Choosing the Right Appliance

A good rule of thumb is to allow about 100-150 litres of fridge space per person in your household. So, for a family of four, a fridge around 450-600 litres would be a good starting point. But also think about your shopping habits. If you do big weekly shops, you might want a bit more space. Don't forget to measure the space in your kitchen before you buy! You can browse our range of refrigerators to see different sizes and styles.
Front-loaders are generally more energy and water-efficient, and gentler on your clothes. They also spin faster, which means your clothes come out drier. Top-loaders have faster wash cycles and you can add clothes mid-cycle. They can be a good option if you have limited space, as they are often narrower. For a more detailed comparison, check out our guide to buying a new washing machine.
Think about capacity (a standard dishwasher holds about 12-14 place settings), water and energy efficiency (check the star ratings), and noise level. If you have an open-plan living area, a quieter dishwasher will be a blessing. Also, look for adjustable racks and different wash cycles to suit your needs. You can explore our range of dishwashers here.
For most Kiwi families, a standard 60cm oven is plenty big enough. If you have a large family or do a lot of entertaining, you might want to consider a larger 90cm oven. It's a good idea to think about the type of cooking you do most often, like do you need a double oven, or would a single oven with a separate grill be better? Browse our ovens to see the latest models.
Induction cooktops are the most energy-efficient and fastest to heat up. They're also very safe as the surface doesn't get hot. Ceramic cooktops are a good budget-friendly option and are easy to clean. Gas cooktops offer instant heat control and are a favourite of many keen cooks. You can see our full range of cooktops here.
A rangehood is essential for removing steam, smoke, and cooking smells from your kitchen. Look for a model with a high extraction rate (measured in cubic metres per hour) and consider the noise level. Ducted rangehoods are more effective as they vent the air outside, while recirculating rangehoods filter the air and release it back into the kitchen. Find the right rangehood for your kitchen in our collection.

Energy Efficiency & Running Costs

The more stars, the more energy-efficient the appliance is. The energy rating label also shows the annual energy consumption in kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year. This helps you compare the running costs of different models. Choosing a more energy-efficient appliance can save you a lot of money on your power bills over its lifetime.
Choose energy-efficient appliances with high star ratings. Use the eco-mode on your dishwasher and washing machine, and only run them when they're full. Make sure your fridge and freezer seals are in good condition, and don't leave the doors open for longer than necessary.
Not necessarily. While premium models often have more features and a higher build quality, you can find very energy-efficient appliances at all price points. Always check the energy rating label to compare the running costs of different models.

Delivery, Installation & Returns

Delivery times vary depending on your location and the availability of the product. We'll give you an estimated delivery timeframe when you place your order. For most metro areas, you can expect delivery within 2-5 working days.
Our standard delivery service is door-to-door only. This means the delivery driver will unload your appliance at your door but will not provide unpacking, assembly, installation, or placement within your home. However, for certain appliances like heat pumps and air conditioners, we may offer optional installation packages in selected areas (Auckland and Christchurch). For specific details about whether an installation package is available for your appliance, please contact our team.
Measuring your space before you buy is essential to avoid this problem. Standard appliance dimensions (like 60cm for most fridges and dishwashers) are listed on each product page, so always check these against your available space. If you do purchase an appliance that doesn't fit, you can return it within 7 days if it's unused, in its original packaging, and in resalable condition. We recommend double-checking measurements before placing your order to avoid the hassle.
We want you to be happy with your purchase. If you change your mind, you can return most items within 7 days for a refund or exchange, as long as they are in their original, unopened packaging. A restocking fee of $45 plus GST may apply. For more details on our returns process, please contact us.
If your appliance arrives with damage, inspect it carefully before accepting delivery and contact us immediately if there's an issue. The remedy depends on the type of damage. If the damage seriously affects the appliance's performance, we'll arrange a replacement, repair, or refund. For minor cosmetic damage like small dents or dings that don't affect functionality, we offer a 5% price voucher (up to NZ$100). If your appliance develops a fault after delivery, it's covered under the manufacturer's warranty and the Consumer Guarantees Act. To make a warranty claim, you'll need your proof of purchase, serial number, model number, and a description of the fault. Our service team can guide you through the process.

Maintenance & Care

For a standard oven, you can use a non-abrasive oven cleaner. If you have a pyrolytic oven, it has a self-cleaning function that turns food residue to ash, which you can then simply wipe away.
Mould and mildew can build up in the rubber seal of the door. To prevent this, wipe the seal dry after each wash and leave the door slightly ajar to allow air to circulate. You can also run a hot wash with a cup of white vinegar every now and then to clean the machine.
It's a good idea to clean your dishwasher filter every week or two to keep it running efficiently. Just rinse it under the tap to remove any food particles.

Suitability for Different Homes

Look for compact or slimline models. A washer-dryer combo is a great space-saver, and a bar fridge or a fridge with a smaller footprint will be a good fit for a small kitchen. Many brands offer apartment-sized appliance packages.
Durability and ease of use are key. Choose appliances from reputable brands with a good warranty and service network in New Zealand. Simple, straightforward controls are better than lots of complicated features that might confuse tenants.
Look for robust, low-maintenance appliances. A frost-free fridge/freezer is a good idea, as you won't have to worry about defrosting it. A top-loader washing machine can be a good choice as they are generally more tolerant of intermittent use.

Extras & Payments
